A note on Grass !!

The grass! Way too much grass. Ridiculous amounts of grass!! I hadn't really considered it before, but how was I going to cut it all? It would cost more than I wanted to spend to buy a petrol mower and strimmer etc. Whilst shopping at Makro one afternoon, I noticed that they had a generator for sale. It was a 2.2kw generator for £99 (ex vat). I investigated further at home on the internet, and decided that it was indeed a bargain. Even if it was a cheep import and didn't last that long, it would serve my immediate purpose and allow me to use all of my power tools from home. The generator was purchased and duly oiled and transported to the allotment along with my lawnmower from home. It worked well, apart from :

 - There were no wheels on the generator. It was heavy enough that I actually believed the sticker on the top of the generator which said "Warning : Two person handling required" (I normally ignore such warnings  )

 - I didn't have an extension lead with me and the cable on the mower wouldn't reach, so I had to move the generator around to mow all of the grass.

 - It took me 4 hours hard labour just to cut the grass!!

Overall a success, but a lot of hard work!

I have since fitted wheels to the generator, although I haven't spent enough to find wheels that don't break under it's substantial weight! I now take an extension lead with me, so only have to lift the generator out of the car and back in again. It still takes me about 3 hours to cut the grass!
